LINKIN PARK BAND MEMBERS

CHESTER BENNINGTON

Early life
Bennington was born in Phoenix, Arizona. He took interest in music at a young age, citing Depeche Mode and Stone Temple Pilots as early inspirations. Bennington's parents separated in the late 1980s, while he was still a child. He was sexually abused during his youth, and later struggled with cocaine and methamphetamine addictions. Bennington eventually overcame his drug addiction, and would go on to denounce drug use in future interviews. He worked at a Burger King restaurant before starting his career as a professional musician.
Professional career
Before joining Linkin Park, Bennington was a vocalist in Grey Daze, a now defunct grunge band from Phoenix, Arizona. He left Grey Daze in 1998, but struggled to find another band to play in. After nearly quitting his musical career altogether, Jeff Blue, then the vice president of A&R at Zomba Music in Los Angeles, offered Bennington an audition with Linkin Park. Bennington quit his day job, and took his family to California, where he had a successful audition with Linkin Park, who were then called “Hybrid Theory”. Bennington and Mike Shinoda, the band’s other vocalist, made significant progress together, but failed to find a record deal. After facing numerous rejections, Jeff Blue, now a vice president of A&R at Warner Bros., intervened again to help the band sign with Warner Bros. Records.

Despite having prodigious success in the early 2000s, Bennington has had personal problems outside of the limelight. He suffered a severe spider bite while touring with the OzzFest in 2001, which caused his arm to swell. Bennington was plagued with poor health during the making of Meteora, and struggled to attend some of the album’s record sessions He fell ill during the summer of 2003, and eventually underwent surgery Bennington’s relationship with his first wife, Samantha, also declined during his years with Linkin Park, leading to their divorce in 2005
Personal life
Bennington married his first wife, Samantha, on October 31, 1996. They had one child, named Draven Sebastian, who was born on April 19, 2002. After his divorcing his first wife, Bennington married Talinda Bentley, a former Playboy model, whom he has since had a child with, named Tyler Lee. Bennington made a cameo in the film Crank. He lives with them in a 6,000-square-foot house in Orange County when he is not on tour. He is also an avid tattoo enthusiast. In addition to sporting many tattoos and piercings all over his body, he has done work with Club Tattoo, a tattoo parlor in Tempe, Arizona. The parlor has received recognition from many magazines such as, College Affair and Skateboard Mag, while also spawning an art show in New York City.

ROB BOURDON

Rob was born in Calabasas, California and now lives in Los Angeles. He grew up in the same town as the members of Incubus.
Rob started to play the drums at age ten after seeing an Aerosmith concert. His mother was the girlfriend of Joey Kramer, Aerosmith's drummer, so Bourdon was able to go backstage and see the entire production and Kramer also gave him a kick pedal. In his early teen years, Bourdon played in bands with his friends. It was around that time that he met his current Linkin Park bandmate, Brad Delson, and they played together for about a year in a band called Relative Degree. Their goal was to play at the Roxy Theatre, and, after achieving their goal with a sell-out show, Relative Degree eventually broke up.
Bourdon wears Puma racecar driving shoes to get a better feel for the drum pedals and he says that it gives him a much better control of the pedals. He is said to be somewhat of a perfectionist. Rob's hobbies include playing the piano (although he has never done so for a Linkin Park recording) and surfing.
He also said that the song 'Easier to Run' was the most difficult to play as he had to approach the drums very differently.
It is said that Linkin Park's upcoming third studio album will make use of standard wooden drums in addition/comparison to triggers which were used in the previous albums. Photos of the drum machines to be used for the record have surfaced via Joe Hahn's personal SlamXHype blog.
Rob is considered by many fans to be one of the member that has changed his sound the most for Minutes To Midnight. The variety of drum sounds in the album is greatly commented upon by fans.
In late 2006, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park said on Tattoo Stories that his bandmates Rob and Brad didn't have any tattoos for religious reasons. Both are actively of the Jewish faith.
He once dated actress Shiri Appleby.
He has dated actress Vanessa Lee Evigan since 2001.
His 25th birthday was featured on an episode of iTunes' LPTV. On January 20, 2004, Linkin Park played a show in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the band can be seen joking around backstage and saying that it is Rob's twentieth birthday. This caused some confusion among viewers.
Rob's favorite song to play is In The End.

BRAD DELSON

Delson graduated from Agoura High School in 1995 and formed Xero with Mike Shinoda, which would later become Linkin Park. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in communications, but decided to forgo law school to pursue a career with Linkin Park.
While in college, (he shared a college room with Dave Farrell) Delson had to intern with a member of the music industry as a part of his career. He ended up working for Jeff Blue, an A&R representative at Warner Bros. Records. He told Blue about his band and in return for giving him demos to listen to he was offered constructive criticism. Blue is the man who found Linkin Park's current lead vocalist, Chester Bennington.

Before forming Xero with Mark Wakefield, Delson's first instrument was the trumpet. His first band was called the Pricks, and he later played in a band called Relative Degree with his fellow Linkin Park bandmate Rob Bourdon. He met and roomed with bandmate Dave Farrell, better known as Phoenix, at UCLA.
Delson can usually be seen wearing a very large pair of headphones on stage. The headphones are designed by Shinoda and himself and change with every Linkin Park release. Delson has eluded to an exact reason for them, but he has admitted it channels him into his own personal "matrix" while performing. He won't divulge to what this "matrix" is in detail. Delson usually does not give a serious answer as to why he wears the headphones, with answers such as "If I tell you, I'll have to kill you." In a recent interview, Mike Shinoda said that Brad wears shooting range headphones for hearing protection. Then he gives them to Mike who then makes sticker designs which go on them.
Delson has been known for his anti-social behavior on occasions. In high school, he used to dye his hair a variety of colors and in earlier days of the band he generally kept it shaved. Recently, Delson has been seen sporting an afro, which is also seen on the front cover for Minutes to Midnight.

Philanthropy
In 2005, Brad signed on as an official supporter of Little Kids Rock, a nonprofit organization that provides free musical instruments and free lessons to children in public schools throughout the United States. Brad has personally delivered instruments to children in the program and sits on the organization's board of directors as an honorary member.

Guitar playing style
He has been criticized for playing simple guitar parts and never performing solos. He has been lieing by saying that he "doesn't like to show off," giving reason to the fact soloing is a rare act for him. He has explained that this is due to the nature of the band, and that he tries to make his guitar playing sound like a keyboard or strings to try to fit in with the hip hop and electronic sounds of the band.
In the summer of 2006, Linkin Park performed at the Summer Sonic Festival hosted by Metallica. It was there that the band debuted a new song called QWERTY in which Delson stunned fans by deftly playing the heaviest riff the band has ever written. Another song that has a heavy riff is called A.06. It is not on any albums but is on LPU2. In the more synth-rock driven album, Minutes to Midnight, there are more complex guitar parts and solos by Delson. The fastest is in the song, "In Pieces", and another is a one-minute-long solo in "The Little Things Give You Away". Now, whenever Linkin Park performs Faint live, there is an extended version with Brad playing another fast guitar solo.

DAVID MICHAEL FARRELL

David Michael Farrell (born on February 8, 1977), more commonly known as Phoenix, is the bassist for the alternative rock band Linkin Park.
Farrell was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts but later moved to Mission Viejo, California when he was five. He attended Mission Viejo High School. He also graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1999 . He is adept at playing the bass guitar, electric guitar, cello and violin. He has also been known to play an upright bass at some concerts.
He has been married to Linsey Farrell since December 28, 2002, and in 2007 he became a father.
Farrell was a member of a Christian ska/Christian punk band known as the Tasty Snax. While attending college, he would practice with Brad Delson in their dorm room together. However, because he had to play and tour with the Tasty Snax, he could not play with Delson and his band, which would become Linkin Park. After changing their name to Snax, Farrell began playing bass guitar in the band before leaving once again to join Linkin Park full-time to play bass. Farrell's fellow band mate Mark Fiore became Linkin Park's videographer. As described in the inlay for Reanimation he uses an Ernie Ball MusicMan Bass.
Farrell has cited his influences as being his mother and his brother, Joe, as well as Weezer, The Beatles, the Deftones, The Roots, Bob Marley, Sarah McLachlan, Hughes & Wagner and Harrod & Funck.
Fitting to his nickname, Phoenix, he has two phoenix tattoos on his back.
On the 'Making of Minutes to Midnight' Dave Farrell is seen using Fender Precision Basses.
Phoenix is rumored to be dabbling in the culinary arts. He is currently doing a tri-tip internship under master barbecuer Jason Felix.
He uses: Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray basses; Ampeg SVT Classic heads Ampeg SVT Classic cabinets ; Dean Markley Blue Steel strings; Dunlop Picks (.88); DBX 160 compressor; Monster cables; Sans Amp; Boss pedals; Whirlwind direct boxes; Shure wireless

JOE HAHN

Joe Hahn, often credited as Mr. Hahn, is a director and musician best known as the turntablist for the American band Linkin Park. Hahn joined Linkin Park (then called Xero) in 1996 as the band's DJ. Since then, he has directed music videos for most singles of his band, with the exceptions of "One Step Closer", "Crawling" and "Faint". He is referenced to as Mr. Hahn at the beginning of "Cure for the Itch" from "Hybrid Theory". He has also directed videos for Static-X, Story of the Year, Xzibit, X-ecutioners and Alkaline Trio.
In 2005 to 2006, while bandmates Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda were busy with side projects, Hahn shot a short film called The Seed in Los Angeles, California and has premiered it at the Pusan International Film Festival. Hahn also appeared with a minor role in a short film by Filip Engström called Little Pony. In 2005, Hahn opened a retail concept store and brand Suru, located on the infamous Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.
Hahn was also featured on the Fort Minor songs "Slip Out the Back" and "Move On" (a Fort Minor Militia exclusive), tracks produced by his Linkin Park bandmate Shinoda. In both tracks, Hahn does some scratching in the outro.
On the new album Minutes To Midnight, Joe Hahn contributes more to programming with his sound effects board. The only songs he uses turntables in Minutes To Midnight are the minor roles in "What I've Done," "In Pieces," and "The Little Things Give You Away."

MIKE SHINODA

Early life
Born to a
Japanese-American father, Leslie Shinoda, and a Russian-Hungarian mother, Kim, Mike Shinoda was raised in the Los Angeles suburb of Agoura Hills. Mike has a younger brother (born 1979) named Jason.
His first exposure to the music business came during his middle and high school years, and attended a concert featuring Anthrax and Public Enemy He attended Chester W. Nimitz Middle School in Huntington Park.[citation needed] After that, he began taking piano lessons, studying classical pianist techniques, and later moved on to jazz and hip hop. It was during this period that he added the guitar and, eventually, rap-style vocals to his repertoire. After his teens, Mike Shinoda's rap interests found a source of encouragement in friend Brad Delson, with whom he started to write and record songs in a makeshift studio set up in his bedroom. Shinoda attended Agoura High School with Linkin Park bandmate Brad Delson, as well as with members of the band Hoobastank. By the end of high school, drummer Rob Bourdon had become involved in their musical ventures. The trio formed the band Xero, and began to make a more serious attempt to pursue a career in the music industry.
After high school, Shinoda enrolled in the
Art Center College of Design to study graphic design and illustration. It was here that he made the acquaintance of DJ and turntablist Joseph Hahn, who, along with Delson's college-mate Phoenix, was soon added to Xero's line-up. Shinoda eventually graduated from college with a degree in illustration, securing himself a job as a graphic designer right after graduation. With his background as a graphic artist, Shinoda has taken it upon himself in designing all of Linkin Park's artwork with Hahn, and has even designed the album cover for Styles of Beyond's debut album, 2000 Fold. In later years he would go on to showcase his art skills;[citation needed] he had his debut art showcase at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles in the time leading up to Linkin Park's album Minutes to Midnight.

Linkin Park
Shinoda's band (at this point called Hybrid Theory) brought in second vocalist
Chester Bennington, replacing Mark Wakefield. Only one six-track EP would be released under the new name before legal issues forced them once again to change it - and thus it came to pass that Shinoda and his bandmates were to call themselves "Lincoln Park". However, the domain name lincolnpark.com was already taken, so it was ultimately changed to Linkin Park.
Throughout 1999,
Linkin Park continued to expand their following amongst L.A. club patrons. This growth in popularity made a record contract an even more urgent concern for the band, and Shinoda was forced to juggle his college finals with talent showcases for various major labels;[citation needed] while the former went well for him, Mike and the band failed to accomplish any positive results until the year was nearly over. Several labels had passed on the privilege until, finally, Warner Bros. Records made the decision to add the young band to its long list of artists. The first fruits of this union surfaced in the Fall of 2000 as Hybrid Theory, sporting a cover designed by Shinoda himself; before long the album had found its way high into the charts, launching Linkin Park as one of the most popular exponents of the rap-metal crossgenre.
From the start Shinoda was closely involved in the technical aspects of the band's recordings, and over the subsequent releases that role continued to expand, with the singer tackling a fair amount of the production duties for the
Hybrid Theory remix album Reanimation (2002). On the second Linkin Park release Meteora (2003) Shinoda continued his multiple duties as a musician and studio technician. In May 2003 he married children's author Anna Hillenger.
By the release of the Linkin Park and Jay-Z 'mash-up' album Collision Course in 2004, he had his hands in every aspect of the release, from performing and producing to mixing and graphic design. Production and remix work for various other performers including The X-Ecutioners, and Handsome Boy Modeling School was also undertaken from time to time.
The band released their latest album, Minutes to Midnight, on May 15, 2007. On this album, Mike sings "In Between" as the solo like Chester, instead of rapping and also the b-side song, "No Roads Left". Although these are his first songs that he has sang on, Hit Parader’s Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time has Mike ranked at number 72 all time.

The album topped the Billboard Charts by selling nearly 625,000 copies in its debut week, making it the best debut week of any album for the year.

BAND HISTORY

Early years (1996-2000)

Originally consisting of three close high school friends from Agoura High School, Linkin Park’s foundation was anchored by Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Rob Bourdon.[10] After graduating from high school, the California natives later began to take their musical interests more seriously, recruiting Joe Hahn, Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, and Mark Wakefield to perform in their band, then titled Xero. Though limited in resources, the band began recording and producing songs within Shinoda’s make-shift bedroom studio in 1996. Tensions and frustration within the band began to increase after the band failed to land a record deal. The lack of success and stalemate in progress prompted Wakefield, at that time the band’s vocalist, to leave the band in search for other projects. Later, Farrell would also leave the band in order to tour with Tasty Snax and other bands.
After spending a considerable time searching for Wakefield’s surrogate, Xero recruited Arizona vocalist Chester Bennington. Jeff Blue, the vice president of Zomba Music, referred Bennington to the band in March of 1999. Bennington, formerly of Grey Daze, became a standout among applicants for his unique and vivid singing style. The newborn chemistry between Shinoda and Bennington helped revive the band, inciting them to work on new material. The band’s renaissance culminated with a change in name; from Hybrid Theory, the band changed their name to Linkin Park, a play on and homage to Santa Monica’s Lincoln Park. However, despite these changes, the band still struggled to sign a record deal. After facing numerous rejections from several major record labels, Linkin Park turned to Jeff Blue for additional help. After failing to catch Warner Bros. Records on three previous reviews, Jeff Blue, now the vice president of Warner Bros. Records, helped the band sign a deal with the company in 1999. Now aside with Warner Bros. Records, the band released their breakthrough album, Hybrid Theory, the following year.

Breakthrough: Hybrid Theory (2000-2002)

Linkin Park released Hybrid Theory on October 24, 2000. The album, which represented half a decade’s worth of the band’s work, was edited and polished by music producer Don Gilmore. Hybrid Theory was well received by music fans; the band sold more than 4.8 million records during its debut year, earning it the status of best-selling album of 2001, while singles such as Crawling and One Step Closer established themselves as staples among Alternative Rock radio playlists during the year. Additionally, other singles from the album were featured in movies such as Dracula 2000, Little Nicky, and Valentine. Hybrid Theory was also nominated for three Grammy Awards, including best new artist, best rock album, and best hard rock performance (for Crawling). MTV also awarded the band their Best Rock Video and Best Direction awards for In the End. Through the winning of the Grammy for best hard rock performance, and for Best Rock Album, Hybrid Theory’s overall success had catapulted the band into the mainstream's attention.
During this time, Linkin Park received many invitations to perform on many recognized tours and concerts including Ozzfest, Family Values Tour and KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas. The band also formed their own tour, Projekt Revolution, which featured other notable artists such as, Cypress Hill, Adema, and Snoop Dogg. Within a year’s stretch, Linkin Park had performed at over 320 concerts.[10] The album "Reanimation" debuted on July 30, 2002, featuring the likes of Black Thought, Jonathan Davis, Aaron Lewis, and many others. Reanimation claimed the second spot on the Billboard 200, and sold nearly 270,000 copies during its debut week.

Continued success: Meteora (2002-2004)

Following the success of Hybrid Theory and Reanimation, Linkin Park spent a significant amount of time touring around the United States. The band began to work on new material amidst the saturated schedule, spending a sliver of their free time in their tour bus' studio. The band officially announced the production of a new studio album in December 2002, revealing their new work was inspired by the rocky region of Meteora in Greece, where a lot of monasteries have been built on top of the rocks. Meteora featured a mixture of the band's previous nu metal and rapcore styles with newer innovative effects, including the induction of a shakuhachi (a Japanese flute made of bamboo) and other instruments. Eponymous to Meteora, the Linkin Park's second album debuted on March 25, 2003 and instantly earned worldwide recognition. Meteora sold more than 800,000 copies during its first week, and it ranked as the best selling album on the Billboard charts. Music videos for some of the album's singles, including Somewhere I Belong, Breaking the Habit, Faint and Numb, received significant radio attention. Eventually, Meteora sold nearly three million copies by October 2003. The album's success allowed Linkin Park to form another Projekt Revolution, which featured other bands and artists including, Mudvayne, Blindside, and Xzibit. Additionally, Metallica, a famed heavy metal group, invited Linkin Park to play at the Summer Sanitarium Tour 2003, which included well-known acts such as Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne and Deftones The band released an album and DVD, entitled Live in Texas, which consisted of audio and video tracks of some of the band's performances in Texas during the tour. Meteora also earned the band additional awards and honors. The band won MTV's awards for Best Rock Video (Somewhere I Belong), Viewer's Choice Award (Breaking the Habit). Linkin Park also received significant recognition during the 2004 Radio Music Awards, winning the Artist of the Year and Song of the Year (Numb) awards. Although Meteora was not nearly as successful as Hybrid Theory, it was the third best selling album in America during 2003. The band spent the first few months of 2004 touring around the world, first with the third Projekt Revolution tour, and later several European concerts.

Side projects and charity work (2004-2006)

Following Meteora's success, the band postponed working on a new studio album for the next several years. Instead, Linkin Park continued to tour and work on many side projects. Bennington appeared on DJ Lethal’s State of the Art and other work with Dead By Sunrise, while Shinoda did work with Depeche Mode.[11] In 2004, the band began to work with Jay-Z to produce another remix album, entitled Collision Course. The album, which featured intermixed lyrics and background tracks from both artists' backgrounds, debuted in November 2004. Shinoda also formed a new band, Fort Minor, as a side project. With the aid of Jay-Z, Fort Minor released their debut album, The Rising Tied, to critical acclaim. On the home front, the band's relationship with Warner Bros. Records was declining rapidly on account of several trust and financial issues. After months of feuding, the band finally negotiated a deal in December 2005. Additionally, they also participated in numerous charitable events. Linkin Park helped raise money to benefit victims of Hurricane Charley in 2004 and later Hurricane Katrina in 2005. They also helped relief efforts for the 2004 Tsunami victims by staging several charity concerts and setting up an additional fund called "Music for Relief". Most notably, however, the band participated at Live 8, a series of charitable benefit concerts set up to raise global awareness. Alongside Jay-Z, the band performed on Live 8's stage in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to a global audience. The band would later be reunited with Jay-Z at the Grammy Award Ceremony 2006, during which they performed Numb/Encore, en route to winning a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. They would later go on to play at the 2006 Summer Sonic music festival, which was hosted by Metallica in Japan.

Reemergence: Minutes to Midnight (2006-present)

Linkin Park returned to the recording studios in 2006 to work on new material. To produce the album, the band chose popular producer Rick Rubin. Despite initially stating the album would debut sometime in 2006, the album was pushed off to 2007. The band had recorded thirty to fifty songs in August of 2006, when Shinoda stated the album was halfway completed. Bennington later added that the new album would stray away from their previous nu metal sound. Warner Bros. Records officially announced that the band’s third studio album, entitled Minutes to Midnight, would be released on May 15, 2007 in the United States. After spending fourteen months working on the album, the band opted to further refine their album by removing five of the original seventeen tracks. Minutes to Midnight sold over 600,000 copies in its first week, making it one of the most successful debut week albums in recent years. The album also captured the top spot on the Billboard Charts. The album's first single, "What I've Done" was released on April 2, and later premiered on MTV and Fuse within the same week. The single was acclaimed by listeners, reaching the Billboard Hot 100 days after its debut, and later was the top-ranked song on the Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks and Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Billboard has reported that two other singles, "Given Up" and "Shadow of the Day", are scheduled for release later in the year. However, such details have yet to be officially confirmed by the band. Bleed It Out was confirmed to be the second single from Minutes to Midnight, and will be released August 20, 2007.
Linkin Park performed at Live Earth Japan on July 7, 2007. and is headling their famed summer tour Projekt Revolution in its fourth installment.

LINKIN PARK LYRICS

ALBUM: Hybrid Theory EP (1999)

linkin park, Hybrid TheoryEP album

AND ONE

And One
Where should I start
Disjointed heart
I’ve got no commitment
To my own flesh and blood
Left all alone
Far from my home
No one to hear me, to heal my ill heart, I
Keep it locked up inside
Cannot express
To the point I’ve regressed
If anger’s a gift, then I guess I’ve been blessed, I
Keep it locked up inside
Keep my distance from your lies
It's too late to love me ma
You helped me to show me
It's to late to love me ma
You don't even know me
Breaking a part of my heart to find release
Taking you out of my blood to bring me peace
Breaking a part of my heart to find release
Taking you out of my blood to bring me peace
Breaking a part of my heart to find release (Break)
Taking you out of my blood to bring me peace (Me)
Breaking a part of my heart to find release (Too)
Taking you out of my blood to bring me peace
Keep it locked up inside
Keep my distance from your lies
Breaking a part of my heart to find release (Break)
Taking you out of my blood to bring me peace (Me)
Breaking a part of my heart to find release (Too)
Taking you out of my blood to bring me peace
Breaking a part of my heart to find release
Taking you out of my blood to bring me peace
Breaking a part of my heart to find release
Taking you out of my blood to bring me peace
Keep my distance
Keep my distance
Keep my distance
Keep my distance
[slows to rap solo]
Spit drips from the jaw of the witless witness
Cryptic colloquialism shifts your midrift
Dark all I do embark the shadows
Involved with my thought catalog, analogue, rap catalog
Keep my distance, and fear resistance, hurt by persistence
The twisted web of tangled lies
Strangles my hope to waste and numbs the taste
And I'm forced to face these hate crimes
Against the state of being
Feeling the weight-less-ness pressed between the ceiling
Reeling around room
Riding a bubble of sound proof
It's the frequency making you
Sha-Shake with every boom
Involuntary muscle contraction
Ignoring and drinking musical gas field euphoria
The sound pounds to make the dead flush
To have you a head rush with red thoughts and said stuff

STEP UP
Watch as the room rocks
Men only moonwalk
Mixed media slang
Banging in your boom box verbal violence
Lyrical stylist
In a time when rock hip hop rhymes are childish
You can’t tempt me with rhymes that are empty
Rapping to a beat doesn’t make you an MC
With your lack of skill and facility
You’re killing me
And a DJ in the group just for credibility
I heard that some of you are getting help with your rhymes
You’re not an emcee if someone else writes your lines
And rapping over rock doesn’t make you a pioneer
Cause rock and hip hop have collaborated for years
But now they’re getting randomly mixed and matched up
All after a fast buck and all the tracks suck
So how does it stack up? None of it’s real
You want to be an emcee you’ve got to study the skill
Who can rock a rhyme like this?
Bring it to you every time like this?
Who can rock a rhyme like this?
Step, step up, step, step up
So you pick up a pen and write yourself a new identity
But mentally you don’t have the hip hop energy
With a tendency to make up stories
Sounding like the only hip hop you’ve heard is top 40
And your record company is completely missing it
All the kids are dissing it for not being legitimate
So in a battle you can't hack it
React with whack shit
And get smacked with verbal back flips
Get your ass kicked by fabulous battle catalysts
It's taken decades for emcees to establish this
You’re new to hip hop and welcome if your serious
But not on the mic
Leave that to the experienced
(Using the waves of sound the true master paralyzes his opponents, leaving him
vulnerable to attack)
[Chorus (2x)]
(After years of pain staking research by the world's leading sound scientists, we
here at the sound institute have invented a reliable audio weapons system. Actual
movement of musical sound in space used to carefully attack and neutralize the
cellular structure of the human body, and the question must be asked.)
[Chorus (2x)]

PART OF ME

Part of me won’t go away
Everyday reminded how much I hate it
Weighted against the consequences
Can’t live without it so it’s senseless
Wanna cut it out of my soul
And just live with a gaping hole
Take control of my life
And wash out all the burnt taste
I made the problems in the first place
Hang my head low ‘cause it’s part of me
Ya hardly see right next to the heart of me
Heard of me the routine scar
New cuts cover where the old ones are
And now I’m sick of this
I can’t stand the sandpaper thoughts that grade on my sanity
I rather not even be then the man that’s staring in the mirror through me
[Pre chorus]
Cut myself free willingly
Stop just what’s killing me [x4]
I feel it everyday
I feel I made my way
I feel it swell up inside, swell up inside
Swallowing me
Freedom can be frightening if you've never felt it
Once it’s been dealt with you feel like you’ve been touched by something angelic
And then melted down into a pool of peace
Cease to be the animal you used to be
Remove the broken parts you know were wrong
And feel the karma when the problem’s all gone
And then you start to see another piece of yourself that you can’t let be
Memories of the last fight to free yourself
Take it to the depths of the bottom of the well
And now you know you can choose to lose the part in your heart
Where your insides bruised
You can live if you’re willing to
Put a stop to just what’s killing you
[Pre chorus x4]
[Chorus]
(Alive in me, inside of me, a part of me screams away silently
This part of me won’t go away, part of me won’t go away
Everywhere I look around I see how everyone aught to be
Every time I see myself I see there’s always something wrong with me)
[Chorus x2]
I feel it swell up inside, swell up inside, swallowing me [x2]

CAROUSEL

She can't hide no matter how hard she tries
Her secret disguised behind the lies
And at night she cries away her pride
With eyes shut tight staring at her inside
All her friends know why she can't sleep at night
All her family asking if she's alright
All she wants to do is get rid of this hell
Well all she's got to do is stop kidding herself
She can only fool herself for so long [x3]
I'm too weak to face me
(she can only fool herself)
[chorus]
I never know just why you run so far away, far away from me [x2]
When it comes to how to live his life he can't be told
Says he's got it all under control
Thinks he knows it's not a problem he's stuck with
But in reality it'd be a problem to just quit
An addict and he can't hold the reins
The pain is worse cause his friends have it the same
Tries to slow down the problem he's got
But can't get off the carousel until he makes it stop
He can only fool himself for so long [x3]
I'm too weak to face me
(he can only fool himself)
[chorus x2]
Fly with me under the wings I gave you,
Try to be closer to me and I'll save you [x2]
[chorus x4]

ALBUM: HYBRID THEORY (2000)

Linkin Park, Hybrid Theory

PAPERCUT
Why does it feel like night today?
Something in here's not right today.
Why am I so uptight today?
Paranoia's all I got left
I don't know what stressed me first
Or how the pressure was fed
But I know just what it feels like
To have a voice in the back of my head
Like a face that I hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face watches every time I lie
A face that laughs every time I fall
(And watches everything)
So I know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is hearing me
Right beneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
I know I've got a face in me
Points out all my mistakes to me
You've got a face on the inside too and
Your paranoia's probably worse
I don't know what set me off first
But I know what I can't stand
Everybody acts like the fact of the matter is
I can't add up to what you can but
Everybody has a face that they hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face watches every time they lie
A face that laughs every time they fall
(And watches everything)
So you know that when it's time to sink or swim
That the face inside is watching you too
Right inside your skin
[x2]
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin [x3]
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun
I feel the light betray me
The sun
I feel the light betray me
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin
It's like I'm paranoid lookin' over my back
It's like a whirlwind inside of my head
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within
It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin

ONE STEP CLOSER

I cannot take this anymore
Saying everything I've said before
All these words they make no sense
I find bliss in ignorance
Less I hear the less you'll say
You'll find that out anyway
Just like before...
[Chorus:]
Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge
And I'm about to break
I need a little room to breathe
Cause I'm one step closer to the edge
I'm about to break
I find the answers aren't so clear
Wish I could find a way to disappear
All these thoughts they make no sense
I find bliss in ignorance
Nothing seems to go away
Over and over again
Just like before...
[Chorus]
Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge
And I'm about to break
I need a little room to breathe
Cause I'm one step closer to the edge
And I'm about to break
Shut up when I'm talking to you
Shut up, shut up, shut up
Shut up when I'm talking to you
Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up
I'm about to BREAK
[Chorus]
Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge
And I'm about to break
I need a little room to breathe
Cause I'm one step closer to the edge
And I'm about to break

WITH YOU
I woke up in a dream today
To the cold of the static, and put my cold feet on the floor
Forgot all about yesterday
Remembering I’m pretending to be where I’m not anymore
A little taste of hypocrisy
And I’m left in the wake of the mistake, slow to react
So even though you’re so close to me
You’re still so distant
And I can’t bring you back
[Bridge:]
It’s true the way I feel
Was promised by your face
The sound of your voice
Painted on my memories
Even if you’re not with me
[Chorus:]
I’m with you
You
Now I see keeping everything inside
You
Now I see
Even when I close my eyes
I hit you and you hit me back
We fall to the floor, the rest of the day stands still
Fine line between this and that
When things go wrong I pretend the past isn’t real
Now I'm trapped in this memory
And I’m left in the wake of the mistake, slow to react
So even though you’re close to me
You’re still so distant
And I can’t bring you back
[Bridge]
[Chorus x2]
No matter how far we've come
I can't wait to see tomorrow
No matter how far we've come, I
I can't wait to see tomorrow
[Chorus x2]

POINTS OF AUTHORITY
Forfeit the game
Before somebody else
Takes you out of the frame
Puts your name to shame
Cover up your face
You can't run the race
The pace is too fast
You just won't last
You love the way I look at you
While taking pleasure in the awful things you put me through
You take away if I give in
My life
My pride is broken
[Chorus:]
You like to think you're never wrong
(You live what you've learned)
You have to act like you're someone
(You live what you've learned)
You want someone to hurt like you
(You live what you've learned)
You want to share what you have been through
(You live what you've learned)
You love the things I say I'll do
The way I hurt myself again just to get back at you
You take away when I give in
My life
My pride is broken
[Chorus]
Forfeit the game
Before somebody else
Takes you out of the frame
Puts your name to shame
Cover up your face
You can't run the race
The pace is too fast
You just won't last
[Chorus]
[Chorus:]
You like to think you're never wrong – Forfeit the game
(You live what you've learned)
You have to act like you're someone – Forfeit the game
(You live what you've learned)
You want someone to hurt like you – Forfeit the game
(You live what you've learned)
You want to share what you have been through
(You live what you've learned)

CRAWLING
[Chorus:]
Crawling in my skin
These wounds they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real
There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
Consuming/confusing
This lack of self-control I fear is never ending
Controlling/I can't seem
[Bridge:]
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(without a sense of confidence and I'm convinced that there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
So insecure
[Chorus]
Discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me
Distracting/reacting
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection
It's haunting how I can't seem...
[Bridge]
[Chorus]
[Chorus]

RUNAWAY
Graffiti decorations
Under a sky of dust
A constant wave of tension
On top of broken trust
The lessons that you taught me
I learn were never true
Now I find myself in question
(They point the finger at me again)
Guilty by association
(You point the finger at me again)
I wanna run away
Never say goodbye
I wanna know the truth
Instead of wondering why
I wanna know the answers
No more lies
I wanna shut the door
And open up my mind
Paper bags and angry voices
Under a sky of dust
Another wave of tension
Has more than filled me up
All my talk of taking action
These words were never true
Now I find myself in question
(They point the finger at me again)
Guilty by association
(You point the finger at me again)
I wanna run away
Never say goodbye
I wanna know the truth
Instead of wondering why
I wanna know the answers
No more lies
I wanna shut the door
And open up my mind
i'm gonna run away and never say goodbye
(gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away)
i'm gonna run away and never wonder why
(gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away)
i'm gonna run away and open up my mind
(gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away)
I wanna run away
Never say goodbye
I wanna know the truth
Instead of wondering why
I wanna know the answers
No more lies
I wanna shut the door
And open up my mind
i wanna run away
and open up my mind
i wanna run away
and open up my mind
i wanna run away
and open up my mind
i wanna run away
and open up my mind

BY MYSELF
What do I do to ignore them behind me?
Do I follow my instincts blindly?
Do I hide my pride from these bad dreams?
And give in to sad thoughts that are maddening?
Do I sit here and try to stand it?
Or do I try to catch them red-handed?
Do I trust some and get fooled by phoniness,
Or do I trust nobody and live in loneliness?
Because I can't hold on when I'm stretched so thin
I make the right moves but I'm lost within
I put on my daily facade but then
I just end up getting hurt again
By myself [myself]
[x2]
I ask why, but in my mind
I find I can’t rely on myself
[Chorus:]
I can’t hold on
To what I want when I’m stretched so thin
It’s all too much to take in
I can’t hold on
To anything watching everything spin
With thoughts of failure sinking in
If I
Turn my back I’m defenseless
And to go blindly seems senseless
If I hide my pride and let it all go on then they’ll
Take from me ‘till everything is gone
If I let them go I’ll be outdone
But if I try to catch them I’ll be outrun
If I’m killed by the questions like a cancer
Then I’ll be buried in the silence of the answer
by myself [myself]
[x2]
I ask why, but in my mind
I find I can’t rely on myself
[Chorus]
How do you think I’ve lost so much
I'm so afraid that I'm out of touch
How do you expect... I will know what to do
When all I know Is what you tell me to
[x2]
Don’t you know
I can’t tell you how to make it go
No matter what I do, how hard I try
I can’t seem to convince myself why
I’m stuck on the outside
[Chorus x2]

IN THE END
(It starts with)
One thing / I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It’s so unreal
Didn’t look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on / but didn’t even know
Wasted it all just to
Watch you go
I kept everything inside and even though I tried / it all fell apart
What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
One thing / I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how
I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I’m surprised it got so (far)
Things aren’t the way they were before
You wouldn’t even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me
In the end
You kept everything inside and even though I tried / it all fell apart
What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
There’s only one thing you should know
I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
For all this
There’s only one thing you should know
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

A PLACE FOR MY HEAD
I watch how the
Moon sits in the sky / in the dark night
Shining with the light from the sun
The sun doesn't give / light to the moon assuming
The moon’s going to owe it one
It makes me think of how you act to me / You do
Favors and then rapidly / You just
Turn around and start asking me / about
Things that you want back from me
I’m sick of the tension / sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place / to feed your greed -
While I find a place to rest
I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don’t understand
(You’ll see it's not meant to be)
I want to be in the energy, not with the enemy
A place for my head
Maybe someday I’ll be just like you / and
Step on people like you do and / Run
Away the people I thought I knew
I remember back then who you were
You used to be calm / used to be strong
Used to be generous / but you should’ve known / That you’d
Wear out your welcome / now you see
How quiet it is / all alone / I’m so
Sick of the tension / sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place / to feed your greed -
While / I find a place to rest / I’m so
Sick of the tension / sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place / to feed your greed -
While / I find a place to rest
You try to take the best of me
Go away

FORGOTTEN
From the top to the bottom
Bottom to top I stop
At the core I’ve forgotten
In the middle of my thoughts
Taken far from my safety
The picture is there
The memory won’t escape me
But why should I care
[Chorus x2]
There’s a place so dark you can’t see the end
Skies cock back and shock that which can’t defend
The rain then sends dripping / an acidic question
Forcefully, the power of suggestion
Then with the eyes shut / looking thought the rust and rot
And dust / a small spot of light floods the floor
And pours over the rusted world of pretend
The eyes ease open and its dark again
[Chorus x1]
In the memory you’ll find me
Eyes burning up
The darkness holding me tightly
Until the sun rises up
Moving all around / screaming of the ups and downs
Pollution manifested in perpetual sound
The wheels go round and the sunset creeps behind
Street lamps, chain-link and concrete
A little piece of paper with a picture drawn floats
On down the street till the wind is gone
The memory now is like the picture was then
When the paper’s crumpled up it can’t be perfect again
[Chorus x2]
In the memory you’ll find me
Eyes burning up
The darkness holding me tightly
Until the sun rises up
Now you got me caught in the act
You bring the thought back
I’m telling you that
I see it right through you
[x7]
In the memory you’ll find me
Eyes burning up
The darkness holding me tightly
Until the sun rises up
[x2]

PUSHING ME AWAY
I've lied to you
The same way that I always do
This is the last smile
That I'll fake for the sake of being with you
(Everything falls apart
Even the people who never frown
Eventually break down)
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
(Everything has to end
You'll soon find we're out of time left
To watch it all unwind)
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see you're testing me pushes me away
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see your testing me pushes me away
I've tried like you
To do everything you wanted too
This is the last time
I'll take the blame for the sake of being with you
(Everything falls apart
Even the people who never frown
Eventually break down)
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
(Everything has to end
You'll soon find we're out of time left
To watch it all unwind)
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see you're testing me pushes me away
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see you're testing me pushes me away
(We're all out of time
This is how we find how it all unwinds)
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
(We're all out of time
This is how we find how it all unwinds)
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see you're testing me pushes me away
Why I never walked away
Why I played myself this way
Now I see you're testing me pushes me away
Pushes me away

MY DECEMBER
This is my December
This is my time of the year
This is my December
This is all so clear
This is my December
This is my snow covered home
This is my December
This is me alone
And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all
The things I said
To make you
Feel like that
And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all the
Things I said to you
And I give it all away
Just to have somewhereTo go to
Give it all away
To have someone
To come home to
This is my December
These are my snow-covered trees
This is me pretending
This is all I need
And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all
The things I said
To make you feel like that

HIGH VOLTAGE (REMIX)
You know what I mean
You could put a label on a life,
Put a label on a lifestyle
Sometimes...
You know
Put a label on how you wake up every morning
And go to bed at night
Hybrid
I’ve been diggin into crates ever since I was livin in space
Before the ratrace, before monkeys had human traits
I mastered numerology and bigbang theology
Performed lobotomies with telekinetic psychology
Invented the mic so I could start blessin it
Chincheckin kids to make my point like an impressionist
Many men have tried to shake us
But I twist mic cords in double helixes and show them what I’m made of
I buckle knees like leg braces
Cast the spell of instrumental-ness and all of you emcees who hate us
So you can try on,
Leave you without a shoulder to cry on
From now to infinity let icons be bygones
I fire bomb ghostly notes haunt this
I tried threats but moved on to a promise
I stomp shit with or without an accomplice
And run the gauntlet with whoever that wants this
High Voltage
The unforgettable sound
High Voltage
Bringing you up and taking you down
High Voltage
Coming at you from every side
High Voltage
Making the rhythm and rhyme collide
Akira, I put a kink in the backbones of clones with microphones
Never satisfy my rhyme jones
Sprayin bright day over what you might say
My Blood type's Krylon Technicolor type A
On highways ride with road rage
Cages of wind and cages of tin that bounce all around
Surround sound
Devouring the scene
Subliminal gangrene paintings
Over while the same thing
Sing song karaoke copy bullshit
Break bones verbally with sticks and stone tactics
Fourth dimension, combat convention
Write rhymes at ease while the track stands at attention
Meant to put you away with the pencil
Pistol, official, 16 line a rhyme missile
While you risk your all, I pick out all your flaws
Spin rah, blah blah blah

Wow that’s a new invention
That shits brand new
We're constantly evolving
It is constantly changing
Sometimes...
There's a lot of change
Everybody's always up with labels
There ain’t no label for this shit
They're always gonna try to put a label on it
Try to create something
So they can water it down
Sometimes I feel like a prophet
Misunderstood
Under the gun like a new disease
Sometimes I feel like a prophet
Misunderstood
Under the gun like a new disease

You want to share what you’ve been through
(You live what you’ve learned)
You love the things I say I’ll do
The way I’ll hurt myself again just to get back at you
You take away when I give in
My life, my pride is broken
You like to think you’re never wrong
(You like to think you’re never wrong)
You have to act like you’re someone
(You have to act like you’re someone)
You want someone to hurt like you
(You want someone to hurt like you)
You want to share what you’ve been through
You live what you’ve learned
Yo, yo
Forfeit the game
Before somebody else
Takes you out of the frame
Puts your name to shame
Cover up your face
You can’t run the race
The pace is too fast
You just won’t last
Forfeit the game
Before somebody else
Takes you out of the frame (frame)
Puts your name to shame
Cover up your face
(You) You can’t run the race
The pace is too fast
You just won’t last
You like to think you’re never wrong

You have to act like you’re someone

ENTH E ND(feat. Kutmasta Kurt, Motion Man)
Hey, yo
When this first started off
It was just Linkin Park
And then in the middle
Came Motion Man
And at the end of it all
It was Kutmasta Kurt
With a remix
One thing, I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind
I designed this rhyme when I was obsessed with time
All I know, time was just slipping away
And I watched it count down to the end of the day
Watched it watch me and the words that I say
The echo of the clock rhythm in my veins
I know that I didn’t look out below
And I watched the time go right out the window
Tried to grab hold
Tried not to watch
I wasted it all on the hands of the clock
But in the end, no matter what I pretend
The journey is more important than the end or the start
And what it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried so hard
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
Hey, yo
One thing, I don’t know why
It doesn’t even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind
I designed this rhyme to explain in due time
All I know, hah, I so-socialse
Like the host of the party
I spoke, shaked, and made eye-contact
Partied and toasted strong, all that
Northeast, Southwest coast
I’m staring out the window
No oppourtunity to mingle
I tried to sew it up to weaken your system
I had you throwing up
I brought you back into things
Like the imaginary man of your dreams
You’d always seem to make it worth it
I pig-skin, I never nerf it
You felt like loving, never played real
I’m bringing the pleasure
By any means it means I’m leaving your team
Hell of a team, man it seems I tried so hard
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
Linkin Park

Motion Man

In the end
Kutmasta Kurt
Remix
One thing, I don’t know how
It doesn’t even matter when you look at it now
’Cause when I designed this rhyme
I was scared of it all, scared to fall, and I hadn’t even tried to crawl
But I was forced to run with you mocking me, stopping me, backstabbing me constantly
Remembering all the times you fought with me
Watch the clock now chock-full of hipocrisy
But now your mouth wishes it could inhale
Every single little thing you said to make things fail
Every single word you sputtered just to get your piece
But it really doesn’t matter to me
’Cause from the start to the end, no matter what I pretend
The journey is more important than the end or the start
And what it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried so hard
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
In the end

Yo, Mike
This is Chali 2na, w’sup, man?
I’m just trying to catch up with you, man,
so we can go ahead and get this song on the roll, with a pot-n-a-d
Haha, call me back, peace

FRGT/10 (feat. Alchemist, Chali 2na)
From the top to the bottom
Bottom to top I stop
At the core I’ve forgotten
In the middle of my thoughts
Taken far from my safety
The picture’s there
The memory won’t escape me
We’re stuck in a place so dark
You can hardly see
The manner of matter that splits with the words I breathe
And as the rain drips acidic questions around me
I block out the sight and the powers that be
And duck away into the darkness
Times upI wind up in a rusted world with eyes shut so tight that it blurs into the world of pretend
And the eyes ease open
And it’s dark again
From the top to the bottom
Bottom to top I stop
At the core I’ve forgotten
In the middle of my thoughts
Taken far from my safety
The picture’s there
The memory won’t escape me
But why should I care?
In the memory you’ll find me
Eyes burning up
The darkness holding me tightly
Until the sun rises up
Listen to the sound
Dizzy from the ups and downs
I’m nauseated by the polluted rot that’s all around
Watching the wheels of cars that pass
I look past to the last of the light and the long shadows it casts
A window grows and captures the eye
And cries out a yellow light as it passes me by
And a young shadowy figure sits in front of a box
Inside a building of rock with antennas on top, now
Nothing can stop in this land of the pain
The sane lose not knowing they were part of the game
And while the insides change
The box stays the same and the figure inside could bear anybody’s name
The memories I keep are from a time like then
I put on my paper so I could come back to them
Someday I’m hoping to close my eyes and pretend
That this crumpled up paper can be perfect again
Yo, from the top to the bottom
Bottom to top I stop
At the core I’ve forgotten
In the middle of my thoughts
Taken far from my safety
The picture’s there
The memory won’t escape me
I’m here at this podium talking
The ceremonial offerings dedicated to urban dysfunctional offspring
What’s happening?
City governments are eternally napping
Trapped in greedy covenants
Causing urban collapse
And bullets that scar souls with dark holes
Get more than your car stole, some parts be blacker than charcoal, for real
This society’s deprivation depends now on our differences but the separation within
No preparation is made
Limited aid, minimum wage
Living in a tenement cage where rent isn't paid
Tragedy within a parade
The darkness overspreads like a permanent plague
I’m the forgotten
In the memory you’ll find me
Eyes burning up
The darkness holding me tightly
Until the sun rises up

P5HNG ME A*WY (feat. Mike Shinoda, Stephen Richards)
When I look into your eyes there nothing there to see
Nothing but my own mistakes staring back at me
[Backwards:]
Everything has to end
You’ll soon find that we’re out of time left to watch it all unwind
Everything falls apart
Even the people who never frown eventually break down
Everything has to end
You’ll soon find that we’re out of time left to watch in all unwind
Everything falls apart
Even the people who never frown eventually break down
I’ve lied to you
This is the last smile that I’ll fake for the sake of being with you
Everything falls apart even
Even the people who never frown eventually break down
Everything has to end
You’ll soon find we’re out of time left to watch it all unwind
The sake of being with you
Everything falls apart
Even the people who never frown eventually break down
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I stay
When you just push away
No matter what you see
You’re still so blind to me
[Backwards:]
Even the people who never frown eventually break down
I’ve tried, like you, to do everything you wanted to
This is the last time
That I’ll take the blame for the sake of being with you
Everything falls apart
Even the people who never frown eventually break down
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
Everything has to end
You’ll soon find we’re out of time left to watch it all unwind
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I stay
When you just push away
No matter what you see
You’re still so blind to me
Reverse psychology is failing miserably
It’s so hard to be left all alone
Telling you is the only chance for me
There is nothing left but to turn and face you
When I look into your eyes there nothing there to see
Nothing but my own mistakes staring back at me
Asking why
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I stayWhen you just push awayNo matter what you seeYou’re still so blind to me
Why I stay
When you just push away
No matter what you see
You’re still so blind to me

PLC.4 MIE HAED (feat. Amp Live, Zion of Zion I)
I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don’t understand
I want to be in the energy
Not with the enemy
A place for my head
I watch how the moon sits in the sky on a dark night
Shining with the light from the sun
But the sun doesn’t give the light to the moon assuming the moon’s going to owe it one
It makes me think of how you act to me
You do favors then rapidly
You just turn around and start asking me about things that you want back from me
I’m sick of the tension
Sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest
I’m so sick of the tension
Sick of the hunger
Sick of you acting like I owe you this
Find another place to feed your greed
While I find a place to rest
I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don’t understand
You’ll see it’s not meant to be
I want to be in the energy
Not with the enemy
A place for my head
I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don’t understand
You’ll see it’s not meant to be
I want to be in the energy
Not with the enemy
A place for my head
Two, two, three, three
Yo, yo, yo
Give me Energon to keep me calm
You and your mom keep all the dram
Used to be a team, passed that baton
But you flop that bomb as you drop that bomb
Take it to the john in your babylon
Flushed down with the sound that you carry on
I don’t really give a dang
You p****d on my lawn
Took a dump like a punk
Now the battle’s on
So sick of you stressing
Sick of you fessing
Sick of you acting like I owe you some
Find another place
To feed your face
If you don’t, we gon’ bump
Get it up here, crunk
So sick of you stressing
Sick of you fessing
Sick of you acting like I owe you some
Find another place to feed your face
If you don’t, we gon’ bump
Get it up here, crunk
I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don’t understand
You’ll see it’s not meant to be
I want to be in the energy
Not with the enemy
A place for my head
I want to be in another place
I hate when you say you don’t understand
You’ll see it’s not meant to be
I want to be in the energy
Not with the enemy
A place for my head
You try to take the best of me
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me
You try to take the best
Go, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me (get away from me), go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
You try to take the best of me, go away
Get away from me

Wasn’t that fun?
Let’s try something else
Forty-five caliber killa
but out of the philla-dela-realla
show yall brothas how you not a guerilla
Smooth talking, fully automatic weapon concealer
Taste thriller, break thriller
Let’s hit ’em with the bounce filler
Filthy stinking, standing on solid ground
And still be sinking, submerging in the parks
Still be linking, plucked beef when it starts
To fuck your thinking, it’s not a mirage
I’m in the motherfucking tractor, yo, from out the garage
With an if, you to duck, but it’s hard to dodge
In the back of the spine where my dawgs, they lie
Going to flip it straight up, ripping apart your squad
X-ecutioner style, cuts and blends like a syringe
Hanging you from each of your limbs
See me coming through the party hard without no bodyguard
Smoking something, stomping on each of you Tims
I’m the B-to-the-L, the A, the C, K
And when it comes to planning
The thought to keep thinking, man
Shut up
Shut up
Shut up
Shut up
Shut up
Shut up
Shut up

H! VLTG3 (feat. Evidence, DJ Babu, Pharoahe Monch)
Sometimes
Hybrid
I’ve been digging into crates
Ever since I was living in space
Before the ratrace
Before monkeys had human traits
I mastered numerology
And Big Bang theology
Performed lobotomies
With telekinetic psychology
Invented the mic
So I could start blessing it
Chin-checking kids to make my point like an impressionist
Many men have tried to shake us
But I twist mic cords in double-helixes
To show them what I’m made of
I buckle knees like leg-braces
Cast a spell of instrumentalness on all of you emcees who hate us
So you can try on
Leave you without a shoulder to cry on
From now to infinity
Let icons be bygones
I fire bomb
Ghostly notes haunt this
I tried threats but moved onto a promise
I stomp s**t with or without an accomplice
And run the gauntlet with whoever that wants this
High voltage
This is the unforgettable sound
High voltage
Bringing you up and taking you down
High voltage
Coming at you from every side
High voltage
Making the rhythm and rhyme collide
Akira
I put a kink in the backbones of clones with microphones
Never satisfied my rhyme jones
Spraying bright day over what you might say
My blood-type’s Krylon, Technicolour Type-A
On highways, right with road-rage
Cages of wind and cages of tin that bounce all around
Surround sound
Devouring the scene
Subliminal gangrene paintings
Overall the same things
Sing songs, karaoke, copy, bulls**t
Break bones verbally with sticks-and-stones tactics
Fourth dimension, combat convention
Write rhymes at ease while the track stands at attention
Meant to put you away
With the pencil, pistol, official, sixteen-line-a-rhyme missile
While you risk your all
I pick out all your flaws
Spin rah, blah, blah, blah
You can say you saw
High voltage
This is the unforgettable sound
High voltage
Bringing you up and taking you down
High voltage
Coming at you from every side
High voltage
Making the rhythm and rhyme collide
High voltage
This is the unforgettable sound
High voltage
Bringing you up and taking you down
High voltage
Coming at you from every side
High voltage
Making the rhythm and rhyme collide
Who’s the man demanding you hand over your Land Rover?
No man’s bolder than the Pharoahe when he jams
The plan’s over
I inflict sclerosis
The most ferocious
Why I spy, my third eye, extremely high voltage
That’s why I need Ruby Quartz glasses
’Cause when I glance there’s a chance I might blast the masses
Subliminals trasmitted through piano
Integrated in flow
Calculated to nano
I use skills when I need
Please head the rhyme I hear when I plead when I proceed through time
I walk through walls an inanimate obsticles
Via induced reduction of cells and molecules
I bring the knowledge
You swallow the state
That’s a hologram
I box your head
Fatten your lip like Collogen
A telepath to deliver verses with no postage
Pharoahe Monch, Mike Shinoda
We high voltage
High voltage
This is the unforgettable sound
High voltage
Bringing you up and taking you down
High voltage
Coming at you from every side

Hey, Mike, what’s up?
This is Ron, Riff Raff, just asking you what’s happening?
I was just touching base, seeing how your Easter went
Um, just seeing if you’re going to see Joe sometime soon, too,
Because he’s got my keyboard that I’ve been trying to get back
I’ve been trying to call him and he hasn’t been returning any messages
So I’m seeing what the best angle is to, you know, get it back

WTH>YOU (feat. Chairman Hahn, Aceyalone)
Come on
I woke up in a dream today
To the cold and the static
And I put my cold feet on the floor
Forgot all about yesterday
Remembering I’m pretending to be where I’m not anymore
A little taste of hipocrisy
And I’m left in the wake of the mistake
Slow to react
Even though you’re so close to me
You’re still so distant
And I can’t bring you back
It’s true
The way I feel
Was promised by your face
The sound of your voice
Painted on my memories
Even if you’re not with me
I’m with you
You, now I see
Keeping everything inside
With You
You, now I see
Even when I close my eyes
With you
You, now I see
Keeping everything inside
With You
You, now I see
Even when I close my eyes
I hit you and you hit me back
We fall to the floor
The rest of the day stands still
Fine line between this and that
But when things go wrong
I pretend that the past isn’t real
I’m trapped in this memory
And I’m left in the wake of the mistake
Slow to react
Even though you’re so close to me
You’re still so distant
And I can’t bring you back
It’s true
The way I feel
Was promised by your face
The sound of your voice
Painted on my memories
Even if you’re not with me
I’m with you
You, now I see
Keeping everything inside
With You
You, now I see
Even when I close my eyes
With you
You, now I see
Keeping everything inside
With You
You, now I see
Even when I close my eyes
No, I won’t let you control my fate
While I’m holding the weight of the world on my conscience
No, I won’t just sit here and wait
While you weighing options
You’re making a fool of me
No, you didn’t dare try to say that you don’t care
And solemnly swear not to follow me there
No, it ain’t like me to beg on my knees
Oh, please, oh, baby, please
That’s not how I’m doing things
No, I’m not upset
No, I’m not angry
I know love is love,
Love and sometimes it pains me
With or without you
I’ll always be with you
You’ll never forget me
I’m keeping you with me
No, I won’t let you take me to the end of my rope
While you burn it and torture my soul
No, I’m not your puppet
And, no, no, no, I won’t let you go
No, no matter how far we’ve come
I can’t wait to see tomorrow
No matter how far we’ve come, I
I can’t wait to see tomorrow
With you
You, now I see
Keeping everything inside
With You
You, now I see
Even when I close my eyes
With you
You, now I see
Keeping everything inside
With You
You, now I see
Even when I close my eyes

PPR: KUT (feat. Cheapshot, Jubacca, Rasco, Planet Asia)
Uh, yeah
Why does it feel like night today?
Something in here’s not right today
Why am I so uptight today?
Paranoia’s all I got left
I don’t know what stressed me first
Or how the pressure was fed
But I know just what it feels like
To have a voice in the back of my head
It’s like a face that I hold inside
A face that awakes when I close my eyes
A face that watches everytime I lie
A face that laughs everytime I fall
And watches everything
So, know that when it’s time to sink or swim
That the face inside is hearing me
Right underneath my skin
It’s like I’m paranoid looking over my back
It’s like a whirlwind inside of my head
It’s like I can’t stop what I’m hearing within
It’s like a face inside that’s right beneath my skin
Hey, yo
Here we go again with the pain I feel isn’t real
But in my mind, I find myself in places with names but not faces
My memory races at speeds
Hundred degrees
My soul bleeds, devil must’ve planted the seed
Now it feels like my back’s against the wall
I’m taking the fall
Whenever I call nobody’s responding at all
But I don’t know who I can trust
The screaming my name
I need somebody to help me out of the frame
All I’m trying to do is just master me
All I want to do is smoke a blast-to-beat
But something keeps talking to me
Consciously, responsibly, keeps haunting me from dusk ’til dawn
Everything has something for you
That voice inside of your head got you projecting paranoia
Cold sweat shining on your face
Exposing your purpose
And if I ripped off your skin I’d probably find another person
There’s nothing worse than trying to bring yourself on back from the dead
So I advise you: listen to that voice in the back of your head
It’s like I’m paranoid looking over my back
It’s like a whirlwind inside of my head
It’s like I can’t stop what I’m hearing within
It’s like a face inside that’s right beneath my skin
It’s like I’m paranoid looking over my back
It’s like a whirlwind inside of my head
It’s like I can’t stop what I’m hearing within
It’s like a face inside that’s right beneath my skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The face inside is right beneath your skin
The sun goes down
I feel the light betray me
The sun goes down
It’s like I’m paranoid
I feel the light betray me
The sun goes down
Can’t stop what I’m hearing within
It’s like the face inside is right beneath my skin
It’s like I’m paranoid looking over my back
It’s like a whirlwind inside of my head
It’s like I can’t stop what I’m hearing within
It’s like a face inside that’s right beneath my skin
It’s like I’m paranoid looking over my back
It’s like a whirlwind inside of my head
It’s like I can’t stop what I’m hearing within
It’s like a face inside that’s right beneath my skin

This is my December
This is my time of the year
This is my December
This is all so clear
This is my December
This is my snow-covered home
This is my December
This is me alone
And I
Just wish that I didn’t feel
Like there was something I missed
And I
Take back all the things I said
To make you feel like that
And I
Just wish that I didn't feel
Like there was something I missed
And I
Take back all the things I said to you
And I’d give it all away
Just to have somewhere to go to
Give it all away
To have someone to come home to
This is my December
These are my snow-covered trees
This is me pretending
This is all I need
And I
Just wish that I didn’t feel
Like there was something I missed
And I
Take back all the things I said
To make you feel like that
And I
Just wish that I didn’t feel
Like there was something I missed
And I
Take back all the things that I said to you
And I’d give it all away
Just to have somewhere to go to
Give it all away
To have someone to come home to

Myself
Myself
What do I do to ingore them behind me?
Do I follow my instincts blindly?
Do I hide my pride from these bad dreams
And give in to sad thoughts that are maddening?
Do I sit here and try to stand it?
Or do I try to catch them red-handed?
Do I trust some and get fooled by phoniness?
Or do I trust nobody and live in lonliness?
Because I can’t hold on when I’m stretched so thin
I make the right moves but I’m lost within
I put on my daily facade but then
I just end up getting hurt again
By myself
Myself
I ask why
But in my mind I find
I can’t rely on myself
Myself
I ask why
But in my mind I find
I can’t rely on myself
I can’t look around
It’s too much to take in
I can’t hold back
When I’m stretched so thin
I can’t slow down
Watching everything spin
I can’t look back
Starting over again
If I turn my back I’m defenceless
And to go blindly seems senceless
If I hide my pride and let it all go on
Then they’ll take from me ’til everything is gone
If I let them go I’ll be outdone
But if I try to catch them I’ll be outrun
If I’m killed by the questions like a cancer
Then I’ll be buried in the silence of the answer
By myself
Myself
I ask why
But in my mind I find
I can’t rely on myself
Myself
I ask why
But in my mind I find
I can’t rely on myself
I can’t look around
It’s too much to take in
I can’t hold back
When I’m stretched so thin
I can’t slow down
Watching everything spin
I can’t look back
Starting over again
Don’t you know
I can’t tell you how to make it go
No matter what I do, how hard I try
I can’t seem to convince myself why
I’m stuck on the outside
Don’t you know
I can’t tell you how to make it go
No matter what I do, how hard I try
I can’t seem to convince myself why
I’m stuck on the outside
Don’t you know
I can’t tell you how to make it go
No matter what I do, how hard I try
I can’t seem to convince myself why
I’m stuck on the outside
Don’t you know
I can’t tell you how to make it go
No matter what I do, how hard I try
I can’t seem to convince myself why
I’m stuck on the outside
Don’t you know
I can’t tell you how to make it go
No matter what I do, how hard I try
I can’t seem to convince myself why
I’m stuck on the outside
Don’t you know
I can’t tell you how to make it go
No matter what I do, how hard I try
I can’t seem to convince myself why
I’m stuck on the outside

KYUR4 TH ICH
I'd like to introduce [echo fade[
In your [echo]
In your [being scratched]
In your sound institute of invention
And revival of audio weapon systems.
Let's try [being scratched]
Let's try something else.
Folks we have a very special guest for you tonight [echo fade]
BREAK IT DOWN! Cut it up! Using the waves of sound.
A true master paralyzes his opponent
Leaving him vulnerable to attack...
Mr. Hahn..

1STP KLOSR (feat. The Humble Brothers, Jonathan Davis)
I’m about to break
I need a little room to breathe
’Cause I’m one step closer to the edge
And I’m about to break
I’m about to break
This room to breathe
This room to breathe
This room to breathe
I cannot take this anymore
Saying everything I’ve said before
All these words, they make no sence
I found bliss in ignorance
Less I hear, the less you say
You’ll find that out anyway
I find the answers aren’t so clear
Wish I could find a way to disappear
All these thoughts, they make no sence
I found bliss in ignorance
Nothing seems to go away
Over and over again
Just like before
Everything you say to me
And I’m about to break
I need a little room to breathe
And I’m about to break
Everything you say to me
And I’m about to break
I need a little room to breathe
And I’m about to break
These are the places where I can feel torn from my body
My flesh, it peels during this ride we can cut upwhat we like
I’m about to break
Waiting alone, I cannot resist
Feeling this hate, I have never missed
Please, someone, give me a reason to rip off my face
Blood is a pouring
And pouring
And pouring
And pouring
And pouring
And pouring
And pouring
And pouring
And pouring
And pouring
Shut up when I’m talking to you
Shut up
Blood is pouring
Shut up
Blood is pouring
Shut up
Blood is pouring
Shut up when I’m talking to you
Shut up
Blood is pouring
Shut up
Blood is pouring
Shut up
Blood is pouring
Shut up
I’m about to break
Everything you say to me
And I’m about to break
I need a little room to breathe
And I’m about to break
Everything you say to me
And I’m about to break
I need a little room to breathe
And I’m about to
Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge
And I’m about to break
I need a little room to breathe
’Cause I’m one step closer to the edge
And I’m about to break
Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge
And I’m about to break
I need a little room to breathe
’Cause I’m one step closer to the edge
And I’m about to

KRWLNG (feat. Mike Shinoda, Aaron Lewis of STAIND)
Crawling in my skin
Crawling in my skin
Without a sense of confidence
Consuming, confusing
Crawling in my skin
Without a sense of confidence
I’m convinced that there’s just too much pressure to take
There’s something inside me
That pulls beneath the surface
Crawling in my skin
Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Fear is how I fall
Confusing, confusing what is real
Confusing what is real
There’s something inside me
That pulls beneath the surface
Consuming, confusing
This lack of self-control
I fear is never ending
Controlling, I can’t seem
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
Without a sense of confidence
I’m convinced that there’s just too much pressure to take
I’ve felt this way before
So insecure
Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real
Discomfort endlessly has pulled itself upon me
Distracting, reacting
Against my will, I stand beside my own reflection
It’s haunting
How I can’t seem
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
Without a sense of confidence
I’m convinced that there’s just too much pressure to take
I’ve felt this way before
So insecure
Without a sense of confidence
Without a sense of confidence
Without a sense of confidence
I’m convinced that there’s just too much pressure to take
Without a sense of confidence
Without a sense of confidence
Without a sense of confidence
I’m convinced that there’s just too much pressure to take
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
Without a sense of confidence
I’m convinced that there’s just too much pressure to take
I’ve felt this way before
So insecure
Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real
Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real
